Default '96 won't start without help

Hi guys, thanks for reading.

I have a 96 Blazer with the Vortec 6 in it. In the past 2 months or so, the car would only start without assistance when it was over 95 degrees or so outside. The hotter the day, the easier it was to start. By assistance, I mean starting fluid, and one time in a pinch, a little gas down the manifold (I know, I know. I was stranded.). Now that the weather has cooled off, it won't start at all without a little starting fluid.

I've replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter in the last week, and once it starts, it still runs like a champ, it just won't start on its own. I don't *think* it's the fuel pump, because it never bogs or cuts out under acceleration or up steep hills or anything.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help!

had the same thing happen to my 96 a while back. mine was the fuel pump. the engine needs a lot more psi at startup than when its running, i have stick shift so i could cycle the key in and out of the start position a few times with my foot off the clutch to build fuel pressure, then start up. but that stopped working after a while and i had to replace the fuel pump.

coolant temp sensor: it doesn't seem to have helped, no. thanks for the suggestion though, i wouldn't have thought about it otherwise.

i guess i need to test the fuel pressure now, don't know what else to do. about to break down and take it to a shop.

A fuel pressure test would have been the first step, IMO...
