97 4.3 W revs too high when started!
Does the motor need 2000rpm @ initial start in cold weather?I replaced the TPS last summer, and it seems that this is too hard on a gas motor @ 8*C As I hear an immediate rod knock-which goes away in 30 secondsOne should not have to ruin their units engine just to warm it up excessively!TPS or elsewhere? Ideas?

codes? idle air control solenoid on the throttle body or a bad vacume leak

No codes-No bad vacuum leak evident after a cursory glance,so maybe the IAC. But issue only happens when starting from stone cold and then unit runs & performs fine. Unit is stock with 180K.

It was the IAC! Or at least it seemed to be as the problem is no more. But why no CEL or codes? I did disconnect the battery during the swap and the CEL comes on at start as normal-then goes out...I guess I'm good for now...
