Default 97 4x4 has a very BAD SMELL

Hello,

I have a 97 4x4. and I cant figure out what the heck is causing a really bad smell. It has 140k and runs fine. It does not have a working AC and I do not have any water leakes in or out. I just replaced the radiator. And I do not have the engine light on.

More info would go a long way. What does it smell like and can you tell where it's coming from?

Is the smell inside the cab or at the exhaust?????????????

As has been already mention, more info is needed.

Did you run over a plastic bag that melted on the exhaust? One time i drove through some really nasty mud that caked up on the exhaust and it smelled terrible for about two weeks... just some food for thought

From the information you supplied my guess it that the Mythbusters borrowed your truck and put a dead pig in it.

Default More Info- Reply

Hello,

Well, these replies are great. A little humor for the start of my day.

The smell is like a crude exhause. Not a rotten egg smell. I'm not sure how its getting into my cab I have looled for holes and found nothing.

Exhause pipe is fine.

If it's my Cat, shulod I see a engine light?

Another question. If I bust the insides of the cat, what will it do to my performance? I'm not sure if I have a sensor behind the cat. Its is a 97 4.3 4x4.

Thanks

Have you gotten close to the tailpipe and smelled your exhaust to see if thats your culprit?
