Question 97 Blazer 4wd question

Just bought this Blazer, You can hear the transfer case making the noise that it should when you put it into 4H and 4Low..........So I assumed the 4wd was working..................WRONG !
The front axle dosent lock in, So that and the ***** street tires that are on it found me stuck in mud. Yes i had a farm jack and straps with me, Not a tree anywhere close so you can imagine the mood
Ok what would cause the front end not to lock in ?

Yes the tires are going away as soon as possible. Anyone have a pair laying around (235/75/15) ??

Do a forum search. You will find lots of info on problems with the vacuum switch etc. that would cause the front axle not to lock in. The lights on your 4wd switch should have been blinking or not come on, indicating it wasn't in 4wd.

All the indicator lights were working as they were suppose to, Thats why i thought it was in 4wd.
I did search and havent found a match so far as to this problem, I will keep looking.

Is the 4wd actuator right under the battery tray or accessed from under the Blazer under the battery ?
I hope its nothing but a vacume leak.
Anyone have any luck with the Goodyear Wrangler tires ? Mud rain and a lil snow twice a year is all they will encounter. With 4 kids i cant afford super expensive tires.

Thanks
