Hi guys, hope someone can help. ive had a problem with the ignition key sticking one notch back from run position I have to wiggle it to get the key out. Now today when i turn the key to start i get no dash lights and the fuel pump wont cycle. The engine will crank but not start. The heater and all the other electrics work fine with the ignition on but no dash lights/ gauges and no start. I was stuck at work so i jumped fuses 10 and 11 to start it just to get home. I guess my question is, my ignition switch is obviously puked but is it the connections that fail or is it the mechanical side of the switch that goes. Thanks in advance for any assist.

Thanks, now I'm hoping its not worth a small fortune. This truck is bleeding me to death. The local GM dealer calls me by my first name. Hate to say it but I think Its been a mistake buying a Blazer. I like how it drives but it does me no good if Its unreliable. I still have to deal with the fuel tank front vent, new tank and vent and it still leaks when i hit the brakes. Thanks for the help.

If you need to get the actual lock cylinder and keys, then add another $50-$60

Thanks guys. I wish it was only $70, The GM dealer wants $150 and thats only because my boss has a brother who works in the parts dept. Regular price $220. I live in Canada so maybe thats why its three times the price. I guess Ill check out Ebay and see what i can do but that means a long wait till its delivered. Walking again cos of this POS. Lol. Many thanks for the help, you guys know your stuff.

The prices I quoted are from Autozone (AutoZone | Auto Parts & Accessories | Repair Guides & More). I recently bought a new lock cylinder myself. Check the websites of auto parts stores in your area. Worse case scenario, can't you buy from a US auto parts website? E-bay works also though, I've bought parts off of there myself.

Thanks for the help guys. does the steering wheel have to be removed or can the job be done with it in place.I dont have a puller. Also I checked the #10 fuse with the ignition on and that fuse is not getting power so am i right in assuming that the ignition switch feeds that fuse or if not what does? If i apply battery voltage to this fuse all my dash lights, fuel pump etc come to life. i have not tried to start it like this though thanks.

Well I took the ignition switch apart and found the connections pitted so i cleaned them and all is good again. Fired right up and purrs. I did find two connectors under the dash that i don't know where they go. Both go to the 48 pin connector. One is a two pin with a black wire and a green wire with a white stripe. The other is a three pin with a blue wire, a grey wire and a orange wire with a black stripe. All of these wires are small gauge. they were just hanging there when i opened up the lower dash and i have no idea where they go. maybe they are not used on my model Blazer but if you know what they are for I would love to know. Everything seems to be working so I'm puzzled. Thanks guys I really appreciate the help you have given me. you guys rock!!
