97 Blazer oil cooler bypass

Default 97 Blazer oil cooler bypass

Has anyone used the GM 14081300 adapter to mount oil filter back onto block in a 4.3. How does the oil bypass if the filter plugs? Thanks

I do this to all my 4.3s,if you change the filter when you should you dont have to worry about it plugging up.

If you're going this route, you might want to replace the "pressure regulating valve" (GM calls it oil pump bypass valve). The valve is in plain sight when you remove the adapter. If/when the spring gets weak or breaks, oil pressure takes a dive. Cheap part, under $15 at the dealer. Here is a "typical" illustration of how the bypass system works:
