1994 s10 blazer,4.3 cpi,4door,4wd oil cooler lines leaking oil
Why do the engine oil cooler lines leak after 2 years of service. these lines have been replaced with oe and still the same thing. i tried to get a tsb from gm, but nothing showed up.

i think that it is because of the temp fluctuation and the alum crimps flexing with the temp differences.
i would think steel braided lines would be best.

how would i use the steel braided lines? do i cut off the old aluminum crimps to expose the tube the use a sealer and clamps ? these lines are a pain to replace, the lower set goin to the engine

i dont know on the steel lines.
what i did was use some high pressure tranny line with adjustable clamps and very carefully cut off the alum crips. the lines are already flared at the ends. i did this about 2 years ago for all of 15.00 and still running good.

well, i cut off the old collars, and oil was everywhere. no sealant on tubes. the tubes have ridges but are not flared, just straight tubes. the old hoses have 1/2 id stamped on them. what a cheap set up. the engine to filter hoses cost $50.00 up here in illinois, and no auto part store carries the radiator to filter hose. i looked at lmc catalog and the cost is $30.00 plus shipping. So i got some high heat hoses rated at 300 psi from a store and some wide hose clamps. i used a sealer, black rtv, on the metal hose ends, slide on the new hoses and clamped in place. i also made a heat shield from some scrap aluminum to cover the rubber hoses. no leaks yet.
