97 chevy blazer Y pipe replacement
hey guys new here and just bought a 97 chevy blazer ls 4dr 4x4 and im having a few issues first the y pipe needs to be replaced there is a hole in the passengers side of it i believe where the O2 sensor is supposed to go since the O2 sensor is just hanging there the hole is a little bigger than a half dollar so i did some searching and cant find a direct replacement y pipe for my 97 i did find a replacement for a 98 ( which ive heard the bung for the O2 sensor is in the wrong place for them ) would i be able to bolt on a y pipe from a 98 and relocate the O2 sensors or possibly weld the bungs shut on the new 98 y pipe and put new ones in for my O2 sensors
any help is aprechiated thanks

just a stupid question..If you were to weld the bungs in the 98 pipe...why don't you weld the bung back in yours and save pulling the pipe (perhaps tough exhaust manifold nuts)? You can buy those bungs or it is probably still mated to the hanging O2 season...just a thought..Jerry

Well the old bung isn't on the o2 sensor and the y pipe is shot completly rotted so welding in a new bung on the current y pipe isn't really an option I just wanted to make sure a new one from a 98 would bolt on

Didn't see from your first post that the rest of it is 'shot'...I can't find a new listing as well...although I did see one in a junkyard here in NY and that is what I'd try and do in your case rather than retrofit a 98 to yours..Just my opinion...I see Tisker salvage in Wisconsin lists 2 of them, no price though..Jerry

If you can find one in a salvage yard, from my experience, a original equipment one-in good condition will most likely hold up over time better than aftermarket..Hopefully you can find one from a 97 that was perhaps wrecked in say 2000....and still in the yard..good luck...I guess if you wanted new you could contact AP exhaust (google), Merit exhaust, Summit racing...or just google 97 cross over/y pipe and see where that goes..Jerry
