Are you talking about the ignition switch? That is different than the ignition lock cylinder...

Your '97 should be very similar to the how-to's posted for the 98+ in the Tech Article (DIY) section for your reading pleasure.

Yea I guess which ever the 97's had a known problem with, Thanks. What one works together with the shift inter lock solenoid?

The ignition switch does power the circuit for the TURN B/U fuse (hot in run & start) which also powers the shift interlock solenoid.

And where is the ignition switch exactly located thanks.
