97 refuses to start ~

Ignition Module is on the engine, next to the coil. These usually begin to fail after the engine gets hot; engine stops, then will restart when cool again. So I doubt it is the ignition module, but one never knows.
Now the ignition switch, which is in the steering column could be the problem if the contacts are corroided and as described above, could cause all kinds of problems.
I have not looked to see if the fuel pump power goes through the ignition switch or not, but if it does, then possibly the problem.
The spark needs to be a nice blue arc, if not then possibly wires, coil, distributor cap, rotor or back to that ignition module. I am not suggesting throwing a bunch of money and doing the "shotgun" approach of replacing parts. Perhaps cleaning the contacts on the distributor cap and rotor, checking for carbon traces, moisture. Is the fuel tank full? Perhaps some fresh fuel incase moisture has gotten into the tank from the cap being off.
Just throwing out ideas. Good luck with it.

Check for spark at the coil. Its should be blue not yellow. If the spark is yellow it will not ignite the fuel.

I believe the ignition switch is similar to a distributor module. In the 1997 model and those similar the ignition module was placed under steering column. It may also be the last model to have ignition module at that loc.

i have not had time this past week to even look under the hood. Ive been quite busy with extra hours at work lately and its entirely needed right now. thanks burned ill check the spark at the coil; its going on the list~ the never ending 97 blazer list. i feel like the golden gate bridge painters with this blazer. by the time i get it running with out any problems and the second i manifest the thought that wow i got everything to work finally, it jinxs it and i have to start over with repairs. errr its frustrating. i can only imagine taking a second on my house just to pay a mechanic weekly keeping this thing spot on. it would be a small fortune. thanks guys.
this blazer has never been down this long before. i forgot what the symptoms of the ignition module were? dash blackouts at turnover? and random stalls w/ random starts? cause it aint like that at all. so ill eliminate things one at a time thank you
