Default 97 vac booster push back on brake pedal

hi,
noticed when shuting off my 97 blazer there is a push back on the brake pedal. transmission in park. this happens after engine shuts down. when i first noticed it i also noticed the cruise control was on, i shut off the cruse control and the problem went away for a few days, now it is back. will check out the vac hoses today ( i hope). any thoughts ???

thanks ,

bernie

so far I can find no problems to cause the symptom. When i do step on the brakes I hear swish sound, I think it has always been there though.

thanks,

no problem, I don't look at this site as often as I should either. next problem is rear axle. replaced it 6 mos ago and I hear bearings (pinion) i think. won't know till i tear it apart (again)

on the brake booster I wish wish I had done more searching as to how to release the booster push rod from the pedal. pin would not budge so I took it to a garage. after the fact I found out that the brake stop light switch rotates out of the way to release the pin. so is life, win some, lose some.

thanks

I would put it on jacks or a rack & pin point where the noise is coming from before tearing it down. How loud is it?

thanks, that is next on the list. I'll try it first with tires on, if not go tires off.

I have a 2001 Blazer brought it to shop for rear axle seal leak. Was causing brakes to seize up with stuff leaking onto them. I then found out it was the pinion seal leaking so more money spent on that repair then they said it needs new bearings. I brought it back a few weeks later for bearing repair only to be told the whole back end of truck undercarriage needs replacing omg. I now went to guy that sold me this vehicle and he is fixing it for about half the price the shop would charge me. Has engine light issue too but I already had that estimate done is about another 100.00 repair before winter as is hard to fill the tank keeps shutting down. Good luck with your truck. I never heard about the brake booster is very loud when I start it makes strange sounds. They had found a defective seal someone had pounded on with hammer so they cleaned that off and replaced the seal at no charge least they could do I guess.
