Default 97 wiper control

I have a "97" Blazer LT which seems to have a defective windshield/directional control lever. Just wondering how difficult it will be to replace it and any other problems I may run into doing this myself? Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

windshield/directional control lever......AKA Multifunction Switch,
Also Change the Ignition Wiring Harness at the same time, Common failure on the 97's,
Fairly Easy job, just take your time doing it.......

Removing the STEERING WHEEL is NOT NECESSARY when replacing the Multifunction switch and or the IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS on 1995 - 2004 Blazers

Thanks for the correction. I hate for anyone to do more than they need to.

I had the Multi-F. Switch replaced on my Blazer, at a Chevy Dealership, and he removed the steering wheel....... what an idiot lol.
It seemed like one hell of a job, made me glad to have Warranty.

Thank You all for your input on this repair. it did go quite well. I did replace the wiper switch lever and also I had to replace the wiper motor pulse board. I was able to get both parts at AutoZone off the shelf. The switch was $150.00 and the board was $30.00.
I called the local Chevrolet dealer to price out this repair... they quoted $540.00 for the switch replacement and $380.00 for a complete wiper motor change out as they did not list the board as a seperate item. A $740 savings for a few hours of time will come in handy for presents for the kids or something I really need especially now as Christmas is just around the corner. Oh, yes FYI ... you don't need to remove the steering wheel to access the 2 torx screws that hold down the switch lever... All you have to do is turn the steering wheel 90 degrees and it will be positioned to allow clearance to remove the screws with a torx screw driver.... Happy Thanksgiving Everyone... Skoot61

Congrats on the repair. Could have saved $30 by re-soldering the wiper motor circuit board, but at $30 for a new one, it doesn't sound too awful bad.
