I'm not entirely sure what you're saying when you say swap the whole wiring over. Are you planning on moving the entire wiring harness from your '99 to the '97? Unless you're doing the whole dash and harness including the door switch it likely won't be easy. I changed my mirrors on my '96 to those from a '00 two years ago. The wiring is quite different, and I had to do quite a bit of testing to get everything working, but it is quite possible. The only hangup I ran into is that moving the motor left and right is reversed (Ie move the switch left to move the mirror right). Up and down are normal. When I was working on it I simply ran out of time to figure out what was happening, and ended up leaving it like that since I'm the only one who drives my truck. If I remember correctly, the older style has a single yellow common wire, and the newer style has two yellow common wires. I believe that I tied both yellows from the mirror to the yellow on the truck harness. A search online should give you the wiring schematics. Good luck, and document how it goes.

Ok, what i want to do is swap out all the interior wiring but i think i am gonna be chasing my tail as the bcm controls everything in the 99 like the mpg indicator, mirror dimmers, auto lights, auto wipers ect, i would have to swap everything... EVERYTHING including under hood, ABS, ....... .... .... i want to swap it all over including the dual piston calipers in the front but the wheel bearings are different (wiring) and i want to swap out the drum for disk brakes too ( then i need to ) swap out the master.. list goes on and on and on FFS !!!!
