Ok gurus, I have a problem. My 4L60E went out in my blazer 2 weeks ago. I thought ok, I had done automatics before so I decided to go pull one from a yard to swap in. I pulled the 4L60E out of a 95 Jimmy 4x4, seemed to be the same size/pattern, just an inspection plate instead of one piece bell housing. Pulled it and took it home, went back later for the transfer case, since mine bolts differently than the one from the Jimmy. 6 nights after work and two weekends got it all in yesterday. I left the inspection plate out as I was ancy to see if it worked. 1st problem when I added transmission fluid and the pan leaked a bit, figured no worries. Then I started it up and about a gallon of oil dropped out of the rear of the engine and the oil pressure gauge went to 0. I noticed my step son took a bunch of bolts out of the oil pan, could this have caused the leak? Also there was a little 3/4" or so tube with my new filter, I could not figure out where it went. Any help / encouragement you guys could offer would be great.

Well you have compounded all your problems as it seems that none of the proper procedures were addressed! Most certainly the loosening of the pan bolts w/o a new rear main seal and oil pan gasket caused your oil loss! Time for another engine/tranny
separation,replace the front seal of the trans this time as well! And totally flush out the the transmission and install a new filter as well! This situation should have been avoided with a little research! Best of luck to you! Step66
