Default 98 4x4 No Electric Power?

Hi, 1st time poster...but I've been reading your tips and tech articles for a while now Very helpful! But the search hasn't gotten anything for this issue...

I recently had the fun of replacing the engine in my 98 4.3l as the it had spun a bearing and we found it was cheaper to get a low mileage slightly used engine instead. All went well with taking it out, put it back in (all new gaskets and seals, too!), except now...

No Power. Nothing. No dome light, no reaction to the key.

I think it's related to the wires in these pictures...and I'm not 100% on where the one that comes out by the oil fill tube should be wired into.
The other side is the distribution block on the drivers side....

Distribution Side (the were connected to far left terminal in background):

Alternator/Oil Fill Tube Side:

1) Where does the wire connect to on the Alternator side?

2) What's the purpose of the distribution block? Is it supposed to be 12V supply? (I think it's a ground distribution block currently)

Any help and suggestions are of course greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Rahhstah!

A week tracing out wire runs...and still haven't figured this out there's going to be something stupid found at some point... maybe it's time to pull the engine and poke around with room, at least.

I hate electric gremlins. I'd be nice if a fuse would blow at least. Whenever this is figured out, I'll do my final followup.

Default No electrical power

The second picture where you ask if this connects to the altenator, the answer is yes it does. I did the same dumb thing when replacing my altenator and connected it to ground. It connects to the positive side if the altenator. The blue and black wires threw me and I thought it was a grounding wire. These wires connect to the power distribution system and the starting circuit. Without them connected to the positive side of the altenator the car will be dead. No power anywhere. Check out this link and you will see the wiring diagram. Try this first and see if you get any power.

Someone give that man a beer.

That was it!

Now..to lower the body, and put all the wires back into looms.

Thanks for the reply, I can't believe that was it.

I have a '98 Blazer 4x4 and i am currently trying to pull the engine because i may have spun a bearing also. I am having real trouble getting this damn thing out mostly with the two top engine to tranny bolts. do you have any suggestions?

I lifted the body a couple inches (2x4 on its side on either side by the doors) and jacked up the trans a bit to get in there. That gave enough room to make it a little easier.

Alright, i am going to try that out this weekend, i have heard of people banging the firewall in a little just in case they have to remove the trans or engine in the future. Did you take that route? Thanks again for the info
