98 blazer airbag light
Me and my dad went to walmart a little bit ago and it drove fine and the airbag light wasn't on, but once we came out and started to drive to the gas station the airbags light was on. We turned the blazer off and turned it back on and it blinked like 3-4 times and stayed on the whole trip home, and it comes on and stays on everytime we crank it. Any idea on what it could be wrong? Its a 98 blazer ls 4.3 auto 4x4

from stories in the auto body business i would say that it thinks that something in the airbag arming system is not connected and there fore it wants you to take it in and get it checked out. i wouldnt try to mess with it unless it is a known problem that is a fuse or something. if it isnt a fuse i would take it in. cuz if you mess up it is an expensive fix to get airbags redone. and if when you turn the blazer on and you are sitting right there there is a chance that the airbag can go off. so to be on the safe side i would just take it in.
one thing you can do is find out where the air bag sensor is and see if that is it. but disconnect the battery before hand. that way there is no chance that it can go off. again just to be on the safe side. and be care full with that sensor.
good luck

We were thinking of taking it to to a local auto part store tomorrow and see if they could scan it and see if its showing any codes and seeing if we could fix it ourself

just saying man with airbags you always wanna air on the side of caution. they are one of those things that are nice to hit instead of the dash, but suck to hit when you dont need them lol. so be careful.

Yeah that stupid airbag light is hereditary with blazers. mine has been on the whole time ive owned mine and everyone i know with a second gen blazer has theirs lit up to. I hear that the sensor up front can get dirty and some people have had luck cleaning it. You can also take it to a shop that has a scanner that will read the code.

The front passenger sensor just lost connection we just wiggled em a bit and it snapped back in place and thecairbag light went off

Hey Justin,
Where is that sensor? Mine has been going on and off for years!

Just so you know, if your air bag light is on, they won't work. The fact that your blazer was made in 98...your airbags most likely wouldn't deploy anymore. A little known secret is airbags have a shelf life of about 10 years...so don't rely on your airbags to help you out any more.
