I have heard there is a special tool i need to do the rear disk brakes on my 98 blazer. supposedly it is to push the piston down and it cannot be done with just a c-clamp is this true?

I have done the brakes on my 1998 Blazer and the clamp worked fine for me when using it for the brake caliper.

The special tool is only required for ratcheting calipers where the caliper is both the main rear brake and the parking brake. The S-series rear disk brake setups use an internal drum brake for the parking break and have a normal caliper for the main brake.

Ok guys thank you for the info. Just had heard this and wanted to know before I attempted to do the brakes.

Might want to consider complete calipers on the rear. It's very common for problems with the piston, hardware and guide pins to develop after a pad slap. Usually takes a few days, but it'll happen
