Hi, Im new here and am having unusual problems with my blazer. This only happens in the winter time. Summer it never happens. And it dont matter if you have been driving for 2 min or 2 hrs same thing. Its a 98 blazer. If i barely press the throttle it will rev and drive good. But if I mash it or even put it down half way it downshifts and everything fine it just falls on its face and doesnt rev. Like i said summer time fine. Any help would be appreciated. That's odd. I would get a fuel pressure gauge and see what your pressure is.

 

Maybe replace your fuel filter.

 

Is it setting any SES lights? Try unplugging the MAF sensor and see if that clears it up. I just recently went through the same thing. I got a check engine light for a brief moment then it went off. The truck then started doing the exact same thing as yours. I had the code scanned and it was P0101 for MAF sensor. Unplugged the MAF and the truck ran perfect. Tried cleaning the MAF and that didn't help either. Replaced the MAF with a junk yard unit and all is well. Good luck and welcome!

My 98 is doing somewhat the same thing. Will start instantly and idle, but when tryu to give it some gas, just wont respond. Will not rev up, only slightly. I noticed tho, while idling, It sounds odd from the tailpipe. Anyone????

 

I am having the same problem right now. I intermitently am getting the P0101 code. It will come on for a while and clear itself. The problem is still there though. It starts up instantly and idles smooth. Anything more than maybe 20% load and it falls on it's face. It bogs down so bad that the transmission has trouble shifting. It seems to drive a little bit better after driving for about 20 minutes but still has very little power. I am averaging 15 MPG with more than 60% of that is highway driving. My father in law was trying to rev the engine today and I had my hand about a foot away from the tail pipe and damn near burnt my hand. The exhaust seem excessively hot.

Here is what I have done so far. I cleaned the MAF with no luck. Today I swapped it out with a junk yard unit. No joy. I unplugged the MAF and it instantly died. I have 60 PSI fuel pressure. I have replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, crank sensor, and the Intake Air Temp sensor. I am at a loss.
