Default 98 Fuel Pump Issue...AGAIN

So, not to long ago I had an electrical problem with my pump. Traced it back to the harness, so I replaced that. Now, I have had to hit the bottom of my tank to get it to work lately. It doesnt do it all the time, but most of the time I do.

Is it the pump again? What does that normally mean?? My gauge never worked before, and since the harness replacement, it has been working. It is still currently working, so I am lost!!!!

Sounds like a failing pump to me. The harness was probably just the beginning of the failure.

Awesome. The last one I put in was the NAPA premium pump....that lasted almost 4 years. Any suggestions??

I see pumps that claim to be original Delphi on ebay for like 150ish..anyone ever buy from ebay????

Fuel pumps are prone to be a problem later on with these vehicles i've replaced between 25-30 this year alone at my fathers service center ...nothing against delphi but there fuel pumps seem to have just as much problems as a cheaper airtex brand pumps so i wouldn't spend the extra money on a delphi brand pump...just my opinion hope you figure it out!

Best bet - ACDelco. In this case you usually get what you pay for.

When I worked for NAPA my pump failed so of course I replaced it with NAPA's carter brand, and it promptly failed a month later. The 2nd time we installed a Delphi and it's been in ever since. Approximately 5 yrs. I now work for a parts store that stocks Delphi pumps and they are the preference for the majority of my shops.
