Default 98 jimmy 2 door,cant open rear window/tailgate

can hear the motor ,but it sounds different and cant open the rear window, and of course the inside latch doesn't do anything, but i wouldn't expect it too...without the window open....anyone ever had to deal with this?

If this is for the rear lift glass that pops the glass open, I had this little plastic arm on the actuator of mine break a month ago. You can buy a 2 pack replacement of these on amazon if it's just this little blue arm:

This is the whole actuator:

The black plastic clip shown here attached to the metal arm (mine was blue) tends to break, which causes the glass to not pop open, but you'll still hear the motor try to pop the window open.

I'm not sure if this is the same for the 2DR, I have a 4dr with the tailgate. I had a hell of a time getting the window open without this, and I busted the interior handle to the tailgate trying to open the glass by actuating the rods in the tailgate..

Very nice on that wire trick, I wish I would've thought of that!

(Knock on wood) I haven't had to replace any of the door actuators on my blazer and I think you've found out why!

You guys saying this is the piece that breaks? Dorman 42426
Amazon Amazon

Lately about half the time the window won't open and I have to fiddle with the key and button so I best take care of it now?

Usually that is the part that breaks. When it does break you'll hear the actuator/motor running back there when you press the button but nothing happens.

If you don't hear the motor running when you press the button it might not be that. You'll probably have to remove that panel to see what's going on under there.

I can walk out and pus the button and there is no sound and the glass won't budge. If I insert the key and push, the motor starts and the glass will open. Close the windoe and it will open normally. But If try again later its 50/50

I'm thinking is not the blue plastic link or the problem would not be on-again, off again. Could be electrical... maybe the actuator motor or lock switch. Maybe something needs a blast of WD-40. Thoughts?
