I'm a new member as of today. My Jimmy has just over 100k miles on it, and we've had some odd behavior for quite some time, years maybe... It seems that it will run out of gas with three or four gallons left in the tank. This has happened twice in the last three years. Originally I thought that the gauge was bad, but when I fill up after one of these incidents, it only takes 14 gallons to fill it up. Because of this, I thought it had a 14 gallon tank, but everything says 18. Hmmm.

Sooo, now I see while searching the forums that the fuel pump is a two stage system. Is it common for the first stage to fail causing this sort of issue?
