99 blazer 4hi does not stop blinking when trying to engage 4wd.
I have a 99 Blazer that when I press the 4hi button, it just blinks, and does not engage when trying to go to 4wd. Can someone please tell me what I should be looking for?
Thanks for any help in advance.

To switch to 4WD, you have to hit the button, and drive SLOW...2-5 mph slow. That should pretty much do the trick. Repreat process to switch to the other modes.

thats not the problem. the problem is the cable that goes to the front axle back to the vacuum has rusted and got stuck.. does your battery leak? common problem, happened on my 99 too.

I had the exact same problem with my 98 and it was the encoder motor. The mechanic told me to use 4x4 more often or this might happen again. It cost aruond $225 to fix.

my '99 Zr2 had the cable problem. the wiring harness had corroded from (yes) battery acid and wasnt making contact. it was a bitch for me, i had to take it to the dealer to get it figured out (thanks to extended warranty). I definitely dont have the problem of lack of use. I've got mine in 4x4 at least once a month. Use it!

I have the same problem with mine, it clicks into the 4hi but it doesn't engage i know cause i got stuck in the snow a few days ago, any suggestions? we changed to decoder motor back in 2002 and we always use the 4x4, hell i used it back during christmas and it worked like a charm.
