Default 99 Blazer coolant leak.

This is my first post in this forum but not my first time looking at it. I am no stranger to working on cars but I must admit that I am a bit at a loss as to this issue. I recently purchased a 2-door '99 Blazer 4.3L 4X4 solely for the 4WD. Among other problems, it has a rather severe coolant leak. I have checked the water pump and can see no leakage there, the radiator doesn't seem to be cracked and the hoses appear to be rather securely attached. When I start the engine it warms up nicely (I just replaced the thermostat and it is seated/sealed securely) and there is no leakage until I press the accelerator. When I do, I can hear it splashing against the engine and pouring out. The overflow hose for the coolant reservoir is as dry as it can be so I'm at a loss. Any help that could be provided would be much appreciated. I haven't the money to take it to a professional mechanic so I am doing my own troubleshooting/repairs for the time being.

I have searched this forum several times and haven't found anything close enough to this to help me. If I overlooked something please reply with the appropriate link and accept my apologies for the double post.

Have you run a pressure test to look for any leaks? How does the oil look - dipstick level and appearance?

There is no water in the oil, that was among the first things that I checked. After a bit of research and a good coating of antifreeze (which can't be good for my health) and more than a couple cuts and bruises, I have found a rather steady drip from at least one of the intake gaskets. Apparently, whoever worked on this car before me used ethylene glycol instead of the recommended Dex-Cool which, I've heard, can induce gasket failure. I'm hoping that it will hold me at least another two days until I can be home long enough to fix it.

i had the same prob, was hard to tell where it was coming from but there is a weep hole on the underside of the water pump and a bad pump will leak from this. its hard to see until you get the pulley off.. check it out
