Default 99 blazer transmission question

Well at the moment it's working but it doesn't always like to shift. I was just wondering ballpark how much it would run to have the transmission rebuilt

That is a somewhat loaded question as it depends on the damage and your location. Around here, if you are dropping the truck off someplace, expect $1500-$1800 for a rebuild. If you are going to take the transmission out, well, the cost will go down. Call around to local shops to get an idea of what they would charge for a general rebuild.

Question, How many miles are on the Transmission? Has it every been serviced ? I have had Good Luck with High Mileage Trans with a Fluid & filter change and Add the Lucas Trans Additive. I am not one for Additives, but has worked for me. It is Not a repair if it is Totality worn out slipping in all gears, but Helps(Band-aid) with the shifts and worn Clutches in the Transmission, so as to maybe you could get some more miles out of it before a total Rebuild . Maybe it would work for you? Good Luck T.J.

I'm with Kyle on this one. The tranny was done in my 4x4 Blazer a couple years ago for about $1600. Prepare to pay. If you have a 2 wheel drive, it should be slightly less than a 4x4.

Don't feel to bad though... the rebuilt tranny in the AWD Mercedes Benz I just got was replaced a month ago for the princely sum of $3000!

Just a thought, but is your check engine light on or engine not running well? The reason I ask is I can't tell you how many times I've heard of transmission issues that are actually an engine performance issue. The computer on your vehicle controls the shifting and if it's in "open loop" mode or getting bad data it can affect the transmission. How many miles you have on the Blazer?
