Default The on

It's me again. I am really starting to hate this Blazer. It is at anouther shop getting the engine swapped out.

First off the machinic started it this morning and it ran fine and he shut it off after 15 miniuts.

If anyone has followed my exploits it ran and then came to a screaching halt for the last shop and then wouldn't even crank but maybe a turn or two real tight even with a jump.

Does anyone know if they can get hot and lock up like that and run fine when there cold?

Now he just pulled the engine with out talking to me so I am committed to putting a new one in. But in the process he found a broken spider. The one to the number 5 cylinder is completly broke in two or three. So it was only running on 5 cylinders and it was running good I thought when it was running. I can't wait to drive it when it is hitting on all 6. Well here's my question.

Can I get away with a used spider assembly?

Or should I spend the bucks and buy new?

Then there's the question should I buy a name brand?

I also read in a thread somewhere I can't remember which one I have litterly read hundreds. They said something about a bolt or nut kit? My shop doesn't know anything about what I am saying and I really don't know either.

I am throwing myself to the mercy of this form. You guys and Gals are so full of knowlage and have helped me out termendisly and I look forward to a long relationship with this form. or at least till I get smart and cut my losses and give that Blazer away. LOL

If I do anything wronge, or am putting my threads in the wronge place please feel free to tell me and I will do it rite from now on.

Keep your wheels a spinning and the girls a grinning. I check this form two to four times a day so I look forward to all responces.

1) excuse me?!! says who? if the shop started any job without your permission, it's illegal and you're not commited to letting them finish the job. now i understand, they've got your truck & it's all apart now, but they also put your truck in that position without telling you.

2) really not recommended.

3) yes.

4) here are two place you can look. 1st place and 2nd place. i've used the 1st place when replacing the injector & plumbing on my brother's Summer Dime.

5) THIS is what you're after.

6) i'm really starting to wonder why you went to these guys. or how you even found them.

GL on this endeavor. hopefully it all comes out in your favor.

Default 1996 4.3 W code

well thanks for the info.

Is that kit for a 96 injectors?

also should I keep the old 4.3 it is a re-builder and I figure it's worth $50 or so. I'll even give it away rather then scrap it I like to help people out as much as I can I do believe in Karma.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner I am having a little trouble getting around this form. I am figuring it out but it's taking time.

I would keep it for a re-build project if it was me.

ya keep the motor & build it or sell it and get some of that cost back u just lost to a new motor. I've found ever so much useful info on this forum as well and i do agree with Old Skool about going to this guy for work again in the future let alone paying this guy what he thinks its worth.

for a '96? no. it's for the '92 through '95 W-code.

don't know where i saw it, but i coulda swore you truck was a '95. my bad.

while i know i said before that it wasn't really recommended that you put in a used injector, but that was more for the fact i didn't know how mechanically inclined you were. it's always a crap shoot when using used parts. would suck if you couldn't do the swap yourself, and you paid someone to install a used spider that crapped out on you.

here's your spider for a '96. @ the 1st place i mentioned, and @ the 2nd place i mentioned.

hope that helps you out better.

oh yeah, definately keep your old engine for a spare. you never know what'll happen.

Unhappy It's Alive but still sick

Hi

the saga continues'

Picked it up from the shop and a service engine soon light was on. Made them read it and clear it. They said it was the fact that they had it running with something un-plugged. Be leaving them I drove away. I didn't get back from getting gas and it was back. Just happy it is running I drove away.

On the freeway it did fine. Stayed in the slow lane so I'd have a place to pull over and at this point I would have sighed the title and drove away.

This leads me into a new problem. It has 3 buttons on the dash. 2H, 4H, 4L.
Is the one that it is in supposed to be lite up? I got it home with only 2 problems the engine lite and the radio has a short and will work for a min. and shuts off. Minor I thought to my self.. I pulled into my drive way. (gravel on a hill and I start at a slope.) I went to leave and found out that the tires it has arn't worth a **** and it doesn't have posi. No big deal it's a 4x4. I have to keep my pu's hubs locked in so I don't spin all the way to the street and it is posi. So I pushed the button and the 4h lite is lite and I hear a clicking behind the dash but no... it doesn't engage. That doasn't suprize me this has been a lemon so far.

1)Is the 2h lite supposed to be lite when it is in 2 wheel drive?
2)How does the 4 wheel drive system work?

I sure hope someone can help me.

Ok... So what was the code they so nicely dismissed...?

As far as the 4wd, yes, the 2HI light should be lit when in 2HI. For more information on how it works, check out the Tech Article (DIY) Index link in my signature and look for the NV233 threads.

Default codes

the codes;
P0122
P0401
P1153
From reading you diagnosis charts they seem that they can all be related. Please tell me which one to attack first and most of all what to do. All I have is a simple code reader so I am unable to complete the trouble shooting flow diagrams. Isn't it easer just to clean the EGR or replace the TPS or O2 sensor?

Now the 4x4 system is messing up too. The drive shaft engages and dis engages good I just think the front hubs aren't engaging. I am new to auto stuff so I don't have a clue what to do. On my 79 I would just take them apart. Now it seems to be more complicated then that. I wouldn't have known if the damn thing had a posi rear end. I try to go and the left wheel just spins.

Now if you could tell me witch fuse is for the power mirrors they don't work either and I figure thats as good as any of a place to start.

Thanks
