Default ABS light.....

Recently replaced the front hub ***'y on my Blazer due to a severed ABS cable and other problems.....After installing the new hub the ABS light is still on. Is there a way to cancel the light or does it have to cancel itself after a certain amount of time or miles?

Hey, whats another new thread.

You might have wanted to get the codes read to actually know what the problem was that has caused the ABS light to illuminate. The general off the shelf OBD2 code reader will not be able to access the EBCM (electronic brake control module). You will need a full feature scan tool to do this.

You could try to reset the PCM by leaving the battery unhooked for 10-15 minutes, but unless you have addressed the specific fault that was present to cause the ABS light to illuminate originally, you have not cured the problem and therefore will not clear the light. These systems are made to tell you what the problem is. If you ignore that and just throw parts at it, you will surely waste time and money.

Well I am pretty sure that the severed ABS cable caused the light to come on.....I don't think you can clear the ABS light with an ODB...maybe but not with the one I have....thanks...I'll try unhooking the battery for awhile.....
