ABS & Parking brake lights

I am an owner of a 2000 ls chevy blazer. I have a question about a couple of dummy lights that come on occasionally, the ABS light and the Parking brake light. they turn on randomly, sometimes when i brake, or even from when i start up the car. I'm aware that i should check the codes for the ABS light but im unsure about the parking brake light. I never use my parking brake, mainly because it doesn't work. the parking brake lever will not stay down. is this because i need to adjust it? i'm assuming so but havn't had time to look at it. it use to work fine but then stopped functioning right

Sounds like the ratchet mechanism at the top of the foot lever is broken and needs to be replaced.
