Default AC is only cool, not cold

'04 4x4 141k miles
So, my AC is only cool never cold like it should be, even on max AC. I just bought it back in February, and when bought they told me AC was bad. I took it to a trusted AC mechanic and they said the compressor was bad and the compressor was changed. I double checked and the Freon is still full so no hoses were accidentally left untightened. Any ideas?? Thanks yall.

Could be overcharged, or a plugged orrifice tube. Did they replace the dryer at the same time as the compressor? Any of those items will decrease ac efficentcy.

I don't think they changed the dryer, my dad bought it in Ohio and had it changed before he brought in to me in AL so I'm not sure. Any way to check if a line is clogged?

Really need to get a manifold set connected and see what high and low side pressures are to determine if there is a restriction in the system. An easy, "backyard" way to check for a restriction in the high side only, is to turn on the AC and feel the high side line from the compressor to the condenser, through the condenser and up to the fixed orifice tube. It should be hot until it reaches the FOT, the line should get cold at that point. If it gets cold before the FOT, there is a restriction.

Checking high and low side pressure will not give an accurate indication on the amount of refrigerant in the system. On this system, and all CCOT,(Clutch Cycling Orifice Tube) systems, the only way to know if the system has the proper amount of refrigerant is to drain, evacuate and recharge it with the proper amount.

Another thing I forgot to say, don't know if it matters.. Whenever it is on Max AC or AC it is about the same, doesn't ever get colder.

But yaaaa, this is way past my expertise (or lack there of).. Oh well I guess I'll have to take to some pros again..
Thanks yall!

Normal AC takes in outside air, MAX AC recirculates interior air. MAX AC dehumidifies the air more thoroughly and will slightly reduce the interior temperature by recirculating the already cooled air. It doesn't happen immediately though. With a high sun load, high ambient temperature, high humidity, plus the heat that the vehicle creates from the engine in front of you and the exhaust under you, it can take a while.

Could the evaporator be bad or what else can I check? I don't want to get ripped off if I take it somewhere.

Probably not the evaporator. Best to have a knowledgeable, certified HVAC tech check it out. Really need to get a manifold set on it and check pressures.
