It sounds like something is causing the high pressure switch to turn off the a/c clutch to protect the system. This could be due to inadequate cooling of the a/c condenser or possibly from an over charged system.

I had this issue and was resolved by replacing the cycling switch (Located on the accumulator). It's a fairly inexpensive part and you do not need to evacuate the A/C to replace....might be worth a try.
Let us know what you find out.

The low pressure switch is located on the accumulator and can be replaced without evacuating the system. The high pressure switch is located on the back of the compressor and cannot be replaced without first evacuating the system.

You could try placing a jumper across the pins of the low pressure switch and seeing if it kicks off again. If it does, then you are likely hitting the high pressure switch. If it doesn't, then you may have a low pressure problem which may be a sign of a clogged orifice tube.

I replaced the switch on the accumlator and that didn't fix it...is it possible that the controller inside the vehicle maybe bad...i used a jumper wire on the switch when the ac was running and once i took the wire off one of the terminals it would kick the ac off...i can't get the ac to kick on when at idle or even reving it up in the driveway...but when i go drive it, it takes about 2-3 minutes of driving and then the ac kicks on and works great...then after 15-20 minutes go by and it will kick off, i then try to turn it back on and the a/c light just blinks...any idea's...thanks Justin
