AC Problem-Checked everything

So the compressor will not engage...I tried to jump both low pressure and high pressure switch---NO Success.
Evacuated R-134 and refilled---(I jumped power wire to compressor to do this)
The only way to get compressor to engage is to jump a power wire from battery
The auto-climate A/C only blinks three times when I hit the button
Switched relay with horn--Still no success
Checked all fuses, both inside, and out in engine compartment
Their was what appeared to be some sort of diode on the green and black wires to compressor---Could this be the problem
I am really stuck here guys, I am guessing the auto climate is bad....I do not want to start just replacing stuff
I did work before I did intake manifold gasket, now nothing
BTW--It is a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada, 4.3, with auto-climate
