Default AC recharge 97 Blazer

Just got a 97 Blazer and need to recharge the AC. Have the Universal recharge hose but it doesn't fit or I'm not finding the right fitting or do I need a different fitting? Does it take 134? any help appreciated

You are probably trying to put the hose onto the high pressure fitting. The low pressure fitting is on the silver canister closer to the firewall.

Check out the Tech Article (DIY) section for more information.

A 97 does take r134a the fitting you want is the low pressure fitting which is welded onto the accumulator/drier which is a the aluminum can on the passenger side near the firewall. Doh you beat me by a few seconds.

Default Universal Air Conditioning Fitting

Thanks for the replies. I found the canister fitting but it is not the universal fitting that I have. Does it take a different fitting or am I in the wrong place. I talked to a friend that has a 2000 blazer and he can use the universal fitting and said it was on the canister. Thanks for the help.

If it doesnt fit you must have an r12 hose with fitting or something. All r134a systems have the same low pressure port
