Adjusting Cam Retard
#3
There should be enough play to get 2 degrees worth of movement. Mine was -10 and I really want to say I ended up rotating mine counter clockwise to get to 0. I had to elongate the bolt hole in my distributor clamp though.
(And no, I didn't have the distributor off a tooth!!

I will try CCW...once I figure-out how to get to the hold-down bolt. When I put the new distributor in I had the air plenum off so it was pretty easy to get to the hold-down bolt...now not so much.
So far have tried a universal and socket...but that did not work...hit bottom of distributor. No room to swing a wrench. May have to take a few things off to access it.

HardKnock, Moving the distributor does not affect ignition timing on this engine. Moving the distributor adjusts camshaft retard, which actually aligns the camshaft position sensor with the camshaft, and the distributor cap to reduce or eliminate crossfire inside the cap. It is slightly adjustable from the factory, and if more adjustment is needed, the hold down bracket must be modified, or install a SBC, (small block Chevy) hold down bracket.
LannyL81, 1/4" drive, 10mm, 6 point swivel socket, on a 6" extension, gets right in there

Well...tried a 1/4" 12pt 10mm socket with universal joint and it still hit the bottom of the distributor preventing socket from seating onto the bolt head.
Ended-up using a 10mm 12pt closed or boxed end wrench with a large offset to lossen the clamp bolt.
Made a reference mark and then rotated the distributor body CW and retightened the clamp bolt. Will have to go see friend that has the TECH 2 and see how I did.
Thanks all.
