Remove the console and you will see a bump in the carpet where the module is between the seats , cut the carpet to obtain access to the module.

 

So you are talking about the storage bin with the lift up lid that is directly in line and in between the two front seats?

 

correct ,but you will have remove the whole console for better access , i suppose you could try and work through the bin hole but thats pretty small

 

This is great to learn that perhaps my intermittent SIR warning light might be only due to a bad connection.

I looked in my 1999 GM manual and found these pages that show the location of the components and the pin-outs of the connectors that I'll be using and perhaps others will find useful.
