Mine does it too. It's the fan clutch. It sounds cool when it's engaged like that but it takes a TON of power to turn that fan when it's fully engaged....sucks down the gas too. What you're describing sounds like normal operation to me.

I personally hate the sound. It sounds like horse powers are dying.

My brother replaced his fan clutch on his ZR2 and now it does that...My ex's always did. Mine never does

I think it NOT doing it is the uncommon. I'm glad mine is toast lol

I think my old f150 was just too loud to notice it if it did that haha

Seems to me mine soudned like that in the winter/spring. It was really really bad. If it happens again this winter I'll check the hose

Hey all thanks for the information and feedback. Had the fan clutch replaced and purrs like a kitten --- for now anyway.
