Airtex pump back to Delphi--wire harness ?
Ok, I'm one of those knuckleheads who didn't buy a Delphi/AC Delco fuel sending unit (money issue) year and a half ago, had it go out in less than a month, got a warranty replacement overnight, had it go out in 3 months and have driven this third one up until this am...Learning my lesson and looking for best possible price on AC Delco or Delphi, my question is concerning the revamped wire harness I had to install with the Airtex unit. With the new Delphi/AC Delco, will I have to try to find an original OEM wire harness, or as I think previous posts may have suggested, I will have to "re-wire" a new harness that comes with the new unit. I also, read the suggestion of using silicone wire twist nuts i/s of using the cheap crimp style connectors with come with the new unit. (I may take the bus to the house and get my solder gun if I can).
( And yes, when I finally get the Blazer back to the driveway, I will be checking for 12v+ on the large grey wire first)
tks, terry

Actually the new pigtail with all pumps is to GM spec. No need to rewire if you made a good connection in the first place. Just make sure the connector and pump are both 1x4, not 2x2 oriented.
Yes, I suggest silicone grease filled wire nut are superior to crimps. And easier to do. Just cut the wires unequal lengths before you splice them so you dont end up taping one big clump.
The good news is you can often find AC Delco {often}or Delphi {not often} pumps on ebay for really good prices. Just double and triple check the part/ rev no on rockauto and or amazon.
