Another dumb A/C question

Another dumb A/C question
1999 Blazer A/C not working at all for about a year. Compressor does not come on. I tried charging last year but it was not needed, I have a $100 A/C gauge set and they are showing good, maybe a little high (a year ago).
I replaced hi (recently) and low (last year) switches, nothing.
I do need to check pressure levels again since I replaced the high pressure switch on compressor but what else can I do without getting the system evacuated.
I do all my own work, but I know I will have to get the A/C evacuated at a shop, how much will that normally run for evacuation.
I have the vacuum tool for A/C systems too, if I should I need it.
On most days I drive the vette (with A/C and better gas mileage) but I still love jumping in my Blazer and driving it whenever I wanna blend in or take the family (I hate riding in my wife's tiny purple Honda).
Thanks in advance for the help

Anyone?
I wanna try some things this weekend if I get suggestions.

If you replaced the high side switch there is no refrigerant in the system. You can only replace the low side without blowing the charge.

Oh
Thanks, it must have all leaked out since I checked it last year. There was a tiny (1/2 second) little spurt of pressure when I removed the high side switch, but I assumed it had an internal schrader valve like the low side switch. I guess it would have all leaked out if there was any it then.
I guess I will check pressures and if there is no pressures I will replace some parts, vacuum system and check for leaks. Then I will go from there
I probably should have gotten out my 1000 page factory service manual, I keep forgetting I have one. Surely there is a no A/C diagnosis chart.
Thanks for the help

Hi all,
I'm in the process of changing the air con compressor in my '99 2dr and wanted to post a warning for anyone who finds themselves in the same predicament. Having just spent several thousand $$ on other repairs I decided to get the cheapest compressor I could find. Did a search on line and found a "Replacement" brand one (PtNo REPC191115) which claimed to be a direct replacement for my car. Long story short, it's not. I'll post the full story in a new thread, but just wanted to post this in a few existing threads so no one gets ripped off like I did.

OK so I replaced the (full of gunk) Orifice Tube and filled my system, now it works, YAY. The kids will be so happy.
Don't know exactly what was the main problem but I only recently bought the $20 high side switch and $2 orifice tube so it was likely one for those, probably just the orifice tuibe since it was caked full of junk.
Next spring i will have to buy a new accumulator, seals, etc. and give it a good leak fix PM
Now I gotta find a pigtail for my compressor because the wire is cracked inside right next to the plug end (cuts out sometimes), anybody know who has a cheap one available.
Charged my A/C in my vette too, now I'm good to go!!!
Thanks and later peeps

Sounds like a good excuse to go to the junk yard!
I love going there.
