Default Another wont start

Hello all. I must say I was so glad to find this website.
I have a 1997 LT which was given to me by my father so no complaints here. I do have a problem though. When I turn the ignition key sometimes the dash lights wont come on but the radio clock and the display on the ceiling console does. I can crank it forever without it starting. Other times, after I turn the key off and on a few times, the lights turn on in the dash and everything is good. And once in a while if I turn the key on with no dash lights and wait for about 15 seconds or more the dash lights will just all of the sudden come on and I'm good to go.

Any ideas? Starter relay? Where is the starter relay?

Thank you.
Eric

Sounds like a failing ignition switch (in the column).

Have a look in the DIY section. Even though what is shown there is really centered around the 98+, much is the same for the 96-97 models as well as earlier.
