Angry auto transmission change

good morning all, just swapped the auto trans in my 98 s-10 4wd. after hooking everything all back together, i got nothing. checked everything, all connections again, and still nothing.
i just noticed a small scraping noise coming from under the trans/torque converter. i'm at the point of putting the old one back to see if the electronics are messed up or the trans i just put in. is there any way to check the electronis before i pull this trans out? thanks for everything. this forum has provided me with a lot of tips and anything i can share i will.

Did you happen to forget to bolt the torque converter back onto the flywheel? If you unplug the harness the trans will default into 3rd gear. If it doesn't, you have a mechanical problem.

My vote would be on not bolting the torque converter back up as well.

My guess is did you get the torque converter completely set into the front pump. If you did not you wiped out the front pump causing grinding noises no fluid pressure. I have seen this many times as an old mechanic.

thanks for the info. the torque converted slipped on just fine, pulled forward to bolt properly, after putting fluid in it of course. i guess the next step is to pull a line off the cooler to see if fluid is pumping through. if no flow, i think i'll change the converter back to the old one, put it back together again, and see if it works. got thisddown to a science now, can have it out and in by myself in about 4 1/2 hours.

thanks all
john

checked the flow to the cooler, no transmission fluid flowing. Is this indicative of an internal pump failure or torque converter failure?
thanks

john
