i have a 2000 blazer 4door just got code p0440. an evap code,took it to dealer they said i needs a new tank something bout a valve not operate correctly they ran smoke test and said it needs anew tank not sure bout that,tried to charge well over a $1000 can it be something else having a hard time finding a 4 door gas tank any suggestions

 

now i say MOST 4dr's have a plastic tank and if your not smelling fuel then i doubt you have a cracked tank. the VENT SOLENOIDs stick open on those all the time, easy fix for 18 bucks and 20 minutes. its to the left of the spare tire under the body has a hose and a 2 wire plug on it. the actual code would help some....napa has them

 

Some people on here have complained about broken off tank vents, and have been able to epoxy them back together. I've never dealt with this, but it is a possibility.
