Default Battery - Cold Weather

Well the past 2 days when it was about 5 degrees out side I would go start my vehicle before I take off with it. Well when I start it I am just getting by, like the battery has just enough juice to start it once. I am worried about this because the battery is no more then 2 months old and it’s a 7 year guarantee battery. I know if I try and go to get it replaced they will test it and say its fine, but in that cold weather its killing it. I am not aware of any of my friends having this problem. Is this just because of the cold weather?

Default RE: Battery - Cold Weather

What are the CA & CCA (cranking amps & cold cranking amps) of the battery?

well, i doubt that the beating on it with the new subs and amp are helpin it any, but have it tested anyway.

try letting it get a bit of a charge by shutting everything off before parking it.

thats what I've always done [:-]

Well that past couple days I havent been using my amp or subs and my radio is down on low when I go to start it. I know that on the guage when I start it, it is at like 8 amps but once the alternator kicks in it goes up to about 15-16 and comes back down to the normal 14 after a little bit.

The battery gauge in the dash does not read amps, it reads voltage...if you are dragging to 8 volts then you need to have the battery checked for bad plates...just because you bought it new does not mean that it hold up in the cold like you are experiencing...that is why they have a warranty...also have the altenator charging rate checked to see if it is keeping the battery up. Since todays altenators can't recharge a low battery have them both checked....it could be that your altenator is not keepin up with your amperage draw.

When you install high amp parts like power amps for speaker systems you put a load on their the engineers did not build into the SUV...
