Default Belt squeal issues

I have a 97 blazer and its got a real bad squeal. It has a Gatorback belt on it now. All I can get is a Gates belt at the moment, gatorback is a week long wait.
Has anyone had any luck with this brand of belt? It does have a lifetime warranty.

They, like others come in different grades. As long as it's a good grade you should be fine. I know my supercharger uses a Gates belt right from Wynjammer, if that says anything about their quality.
Gates is a very popular name brand and we use them at work in industrial applications as well.

Take a crayon and start the car then hold the crayon on the belt.

Yeah, but crayoning a belt is really only taking care of the symptom, not the problem.I used to do that on standard V belts years ago,and the only thing the wax does is quiet it for a while, while actually enabling more slippage! FAIL!

Thanks but band aids are not what I want.As far as I know most of those old school methods do nothing for serpentine belts. It also makes a mess of the pulleys.
I do live where parts are all special order. I do have gates belts available and its a weeks wait for the gatorback that most everyone here uses. I know Gates has been around forever and they do make a quality thicker belt.

Thanks 4X4GS10B and Rottidog! Your experience with the belts is much appreciated. I think that is what I will try.

Gates are good belts. That's what my Supercharged cobra uses and they hold up just fine.

You might want to consider a new belt tensioner as well, but yes, gates "green stripe" IIRC is a very good belt.
