After you put the new cap and rotor on, at the end of each 2-3 second crank where there was a bang followed by a release of pressure through the throttle body before, do you remember that bang going away? so it just fired right up after the new cap and rotor?

Yea the bang and the release of pressure stopped. I just think that was happening bc on like 2 or 3 cylinders were being fired so it couldn't complete a full cycle. And yes I put the new distributor cap on and I cranked and it fired up like it normally does. Haha it shocked the sh*t outta me bc I tried everything else.

Sorry I never followed up on my issue. It ended up being a warn out distributor gear.. Bought a new distributor at the auto parts store, timed it according to stewartk ignition timing thread, and it fired right up.
