Default blazer not gettin up to temp

my 2000 blazer is not getting up to temp , i flushed the dexcrap out and put in the green antifreeze, i back flushed the heater core and everything else seems to be flowing , could it be a bad t-stat, or water pump.

I feel the same way about my truck, I just bought it and the guage only goes up to halfway between 100 and the first hash mark. It has me a little worried.

I would start by checking your thermostat, they are designed to fail in the "open" state, so if it is bad it will let coolant constantly flow. The other thing to try is hook up a code reader and check your temp. that way, possible the gauge is reading right. and do you have heat coming out after 10 minutes or so of running?

you dont normally need to drain the coolant to replace the tstat, you may lose some so have a little handy, but you shouldnt lose that much.

Got my thermostat for $6 and tax, replaced it, and the truck gets right up to temperature now. Thanks guys, heat is like 3x as hot now. I lost about a quart of coolant, so plan for that as well. The install was very easy, just have to make room for the T-stat pipe to pull out of the way.

did you get a thermostat that fails open, they are safer if you spend the extra few bucks on those ones, but you should be fine considering that you just replaced coolant and whatnot
