98 Blazer that I purchased for my son. Every time there is a heavy rain storm and the Blazer hasn't been ran in a few days it wont crank(NO FIRE). After the rain storm open the hood and in about 30 to 45 minutes it will crank(spit and sputter for a few seconds ) and run fine.
I had heard that there was an issue with water dripping down on the distributor. I have sprayed drier and sealant on cap, wires, coil modules and all wires leading to and from the before mentioned.Had rain here Saturday and Sunday and yesterday morning my son went to leave and it wouldn't crank.Run through my same fix again(open hood etc) and it cranks.
What could I be missing and help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Darrell

Just had this with my wife's Blazer....drove me nutz
Have a look at the coil
Spray some water on it when the truck is running
I'll bet up to and including ONE dollar it dies as soon as the water hits it

What brand cap and rotor? These things are pretty particular and wand AC Delco.
Did you put dielectric silicon on the rotor and contact points?
Are you sure it's spark related? Could be a bad ground or exposed hot wire on the fuel pump shorting when wet. Could also be the connector at the fuel pump. Have you cleaned the MAF sensor?
I'd pick a direction and follow it to the end, like no/weak spark Then start looking at fuel related issues.
Seems your coil is Ok....next is the Disty, then wires, then plugs ect. A spray bottle and water can be invaluable. Hit things one at a time till something changes

-Cap and rotor brand- Don't know but do know that it was new one put on when motor was put in.
- Fuel pressure is good with key on at start and after cranking on it a few times fuel smell everywhere
- I have a sneaking suspension that it is in the Distributor area...Going to check those tonight when I get home from work. Its raining right now so can't check it. Not worried about it starting when i leave to go home because it typically only happens after long rains and days of not driving. Thanks
