Blower install problems

Just installed a new blower in my 96 blazer. Pretty sure I did everything right, but when i started the car, the new blower immediately started smoking and stopped working. The smoke was coming from the electrical plug, so I'm guessing something caused it to short out. Any ideas why this happened?
And my second question is regarding the reservoir tank. I noticed the line where the cap is was just dangling there. It's plugged into the tank, but it's not attached on the other side. Where exactly does it plug into?

for the res line one goes to the rad and one is for overflow..goes no where but out of the system.
as for electrical issue..is your connector in good shape? i know mine was all dried out and was shorting on itself...i had to get one from yard and solder it onto the harness.
check if the wires are good and if you had it in right way...i know i know...its the simple things but worth a look.
hope that helps ya out.
