Hello i need an new rear right (or booth) caliper for my 1998 4WD but is not sure which one. WAGNER, ACDELCO or A-1 CARDONE?

can anybody tell from the pictures?

I believe that Blazers with rear disc all use the same caliper for both RWD and 4WD, 2dr or 4 dr.

I see Wagner CR134335, A-1 Cardone 184712, AC Delco 18FR1487 all appear to be the same caliper...at least to me.

The castings all pretty much look the same. The only advice is that an ACDELCO rebuild uses an AC casting (hopefully).

Do 'em both at the same time. Rear calipers, brackets & hardware should all be replaced each time you do rear brakes on these things.

 

I've got the 2005 model (4wd). Are the left and right rear calipers the same part number. I see the right rear is 184712 for Cardone.

 

Calipers are different on your 2005, (they are not interchangeable). 4712 is driver side, 4713 is passenger side.

 

Thanks Captain Hook, will make sure I order for left and right plus hardware & brackets. Might as well do hoses too as they are 10 years old now.

 

After replacing the calipers, and hoses, DO NOT pump the brake pedal. If you follow these steps, you won't have to do the automated bleed, (requires a capable ABS scan tool).

#1 Remove the master cylinder cover and top off the fluid level, (DOT 3 fluid only). Leave the cover off during the gravity bleed.

#2 Open one rear bleeder and let the fluid drip out until there are no air bubbles exiting the bleeder, (might take 10 minutes or so). Then close the bleeder.

#3 Open the other rear bleeder and repeat the process.
Make sure the master cylinder does not run dry during the gravity bleed, (very important).

#4 Slowly push the pedal down almost to the floor, and slowly release it. Repeat until the pedal is firm.

#5 Have an assistant apply and hold pressure on the pedal. Slightly open and rapidly close the bleeder, (don't allow brake pedal to go all the way to the floor). Repeat if necessary until no air bubbles exit the bleeder. Do the same thing on the other side, top off the master, install the cover, and you're done.
