Default brake issue need help

ok my question is my blazer is amazing other than this one little problem and since its too cold for me to get to working on it i figured i would ask... when i am sitting at a stop light and am slowing down to it i press on the brake pedal and it makes this leaking air sound the entire time the pedal is depressed.. it will start to drop idle and even get to the point where it will try to kill the car.(happen twice) but never dies out... any ideas suggestions on where to look?? im thinking its a vaccum leak but no sure,..... if i posted this in the wrong section could a mod move it plz

Sounds like a leaking brake booster.

X2 Not terribly hard to replace, nor to expensive, but there is one nut that is a MAJOR PITA to get off on the inside of the firewall. If you end up doing it yourself, give me a heads up and I'll let you know how to save yourself some time and sanity.

If you've already started I'm sure you have already found what the PITA is. Providing you already have a 3/8" ratchet, extension, universal and a 15mm deep well socket along with a 15mm wrench you can take 3 of the 4 nuts off of the studs that poke through the firewall "fairly" easily.

It's that upper right hand stud/nut that is a major PITA. Go buy another 15mm deep well socket and shorten it down to about 1 7/8". I used a grinder but feel free to use whatever method you like.

Now, getting it out of the engine bay can be a bit fun because of that very same stud. You don't have to remove the ABS module but you do need to remove the fasteners to the bracket. (Tip: Remove the bolts from the inner wheel well as the nuts are welded to the bracket under the ABS module.)

There will be enough "slack" in the brake lines you can now manuever the ABS module enough out of the way to get the brake booster out (providing you have already removed the master cylinder, of course, and no need to disconnect any lines again). This is where you'll find out how much fun the one damn stud will be again.

You cuss, swear, throw things, bang things and skin your knuckles but you can get it out. If all else fails, you will need to remove the ABS module and master cylinder but I managed to get it out.

To make so much eaiser on you for the install, cut that $%^#^^##$@@@^&$ stud down to size and everything will be much easier.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
