Default Brake light on after caliper replacement

I have a 2000 4dr 4WD Blazer. Disc brakes front and back.

So.... I was changing front pads and rotors (cause they were worn, but working fine), and found a hung-up driver-side caliper. So I replaced the caliper. Started to get ready to bleed the brakes due to the caliper replacement, by verifying I could get the bleeder valves to turn. While trying to turn the rear driver-side bleeder, the bolt sheared right off. So I had to replace that caliper too. Had a VERY hard time getting the line to seal on the new caliper, so I leaked a lot of fluid, but I kept a good eye on the reservoir and never let it drop below a quarter below max line. I eventually got it on, and started to bleed the brakes. Bled them fine, or so I thought....

After starting up the car, the pedal would just go to the floor, but the brakes do work slightly. But now the hydraulic brake light is on too (not the ABS light). Should I try to bleed them again, could I have THAT much air in the line?

The red brake light will come on with the ABS light anytime ABS detects an issue. When you were working in there, did you hit or pull anything related to the speed sensor on the hub? Pump the pedal with the motor running and see if it pressurizes. IF not, bleed again and repeat.

Brakes not being something to mess with, I would have it towed or trailered to a dealership or good mechanic and have them hook the ABS computer to it to diagnose. GM uses a proprietary protocol on their ABS, so not everyone will be able to do it. Ask around.

i cant recall if this vehicle has it but most cars have a float in the brake fluid resevoir.. sometimes if the fluid gets too low it sticks at the bottom.. even when the resevoir is full.. pop the cap and tap it lightly with a screwdriver.. as for the performance part of it.. bleed your brakes starting from the furthest point working your way to the nearest point of your abs controller. post back when you fix it. let us know how you made out.
