I do believe that this is a safety recall meaning that they (the dealership) should replace the part whenever this type of failure occurs. Problem is proving that it is the multifunction switch the second/third/etc time around. You'll basically have to have the dealership do the investigation into the problem and determine that the recall covers the repair necessary before you get it for free. All depends on how honest your dealership is and how well you know them.

It probablyhas a bad multifunction switch. The center brake light is fed directly from the brake light switch. The right and left side lights have to go through the multifunction switch before getting to the rear lights (turnsignals and brake lights are the same bulb) the right turnsignal and brake light is a green wire, and the left turnsignal and brake light is ayellow wire both from the multifunction switch. That is why the center light would work when the others don't.

I am going to bring this thread to the top again. I'm experiencing the same problem with an 01 Blazer, but the hazzards do work. No brake lights, but the 3rd light does work. Do you think that this could still be something with the multifunction switch?

Thanks,
Josh

Corey-

If the recall has been performed already, will the dealership do it again? Just wondering.

Thanks!
