Looking into my brake light issue farther, It kinda looks like the Haynes repair manual shows the push rod connecting to the right side of the brake pedal. On my Blazer the push rod is connected to the left side. Also the push rod doesn't go straight into the power booster. This may explain all of the problems I've been having

Can someone confirm that the push rod should be on the right side of the brake pedal.

Thanks

Mike

Thanks

That explains why I can't connect the stop light switch. Hopefully the vacuum leak will go away too.

Brake pedal / push rod are together wrong. The stud on the brake pedal is on the wrong side. Maybe the last person put in the wrong pedal. Gotta love car auction cars.

I don't know if this can be fixed or maybe I need a new brake pedal. I need to remove what is there now to check it out. Can someone post the procedure for removing the brake pedal. Repair manual is no help and I don't want to just start removing parts.

Thanks

I have had a chance to look into this farther over the weekend. I checked out another 95 Blazer. My Blazer has the wrong brake pedal. I think the vacuum booster is wrong too. The push rod on the booster currently in the car is longer than the other Blazer I checked out. The push rod is so long there is no room for the stop light switch.

So it looks like I need a new power booster and brake pedal. The power booster is easy, but how do I replace the brake pedal?

Thanks

Just an update on my final solution.

I went to the local U-Pull-It place and got a booster and pedal off a 95 Blazer. I wanted to make sure they matched. I took a chance on the old booster but the price was right and at least I'd have the exact one I need to match if I ever buy a rebuilt one.

Out with the old; in with the new and I'm back in business, brake lights and all. Plus it runs much better without the vacuum leak.

The bolt that holds the brake pedal was a little hard to get to. It took some trying but with a little perserverence I was able to get it done. How the wrong brake pedal and booster (the ones from the 95 are completly different) got in the car in the first place will remain a mystry
